ABOUT

BOB

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Robert Branden was given many books to read as an adolescent by his mother.  She was a reviewer at a bookstore and this was all an effort to keep a wayward youth out of trouble and broaden his mind.

College at Southern Methodist University was a chance to leave home and stretch his horizons.  Though he benefitted from a liberal arts education, majoring in biology, only one person would have pegged him for a theologian.  Between coaching swimming and working in ministry, Bob spent eight years in the classroom at Dallas Theological Seminary earning a PhD in New Testament Studies.  He found there was no better outlet for the timeless truths of theology than historical fiction where he transports readers back to ancient cultures while reminding them of the applications to modernity.  Bob lives now in Gypsum, Colorado with his wife, Catherine and daughter, Sophia.

Not so subtly hidden between the lines of his historical fiction work one can discern the fantasy literature influence of J. R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, and Robert E Howard along with the great Christian theology writers of the last and current generation.  Colleen McCullough through her Caesar series can also be easily seen.

In addition to living in libraries, either at institutions or in his private home, Bob has coached swimming for most of his adult life.  Therefore, Bob endeavors to never personally fail for lack of grit and desires to compel his readers to a similar perspective.

Bob believes every word of the Bible is true.  A spiritual battle between the forces of Satan and the forces of God rage daily around us, playing out on the universal canvass of truth.  There is only one path to victory: truth.  The weapon of the enemy is the lie.  Bob’s work is designed to both equip the reader with wisdom in order to penetrate the lies around them and then to live life skillfully by acting the part of the heroes they really are.
